2018 NIKE HOOP SUMMIT RECAP

PORTLAND, OR. —  This past week, Bay Area Hoops traveled to the Rose City to witness “The Nike Hoop Summit“.  This week-long event put top elite Prospects on display in front of NBA executives, NBA Scouts and Media.  These same prospects are also labeled has the next crop of potential NBA talents.  Throughout the week, there were multiple practices that lead up to a highly anticipated Friday night game that matched up Team USA and Team World.

The World Team headed by Coach Roy Rana, defeated Coach Mike Jones and Team USA 89-76.   The No.1 player in the country and Duke commit R.J. Barrett led with 21 pts, 6 asst. and 5 stls.  Barrett, is a versatile 6-foot-7 athlete from Canada and attends Montverde Academy(FL).   Charles Bassey of Team World grabbed 16 rebounds (international record) and netted 13 points.  Team USA Bol Bol, who is committed to Oregon University had 12 pts, 4 rebs along with 7 blocks.

Team USA notable contributors were, Vanderbilt’s commit Darius Garland with 16 points and 5 assists; Villanova commit Cole Swider with 10 pts plus 5 rebs and University of Kansas commit Quentin Grimes contributed 15 points, 6 rebs and 4 assts.  Team World’s Josh Green of IMG Academy (FL) inputted 11 points and 3 assists.
