2017-2018 9A District 6 Preview

Riverview (Sarasota) who are the returning district champs still will be consistent again this year under Coach Ivey.   We’re looking for Newsome to make some noise however, key players will be missed.  Alonso still are young but have tools to compete and Coach Milton Clifton of the Riverview Sharks have to do better then 0-18 from last season.

Returning impact players to watch:

Riverview ( Sarasota):

•  With graduations of standouts Brion Whitley (Murray State) and AJ Cadwell (South Alabama),  Coach BJ Ivey and the Rams still should repeat as district champs.  2020 SG Malachi Wideman should be a major impact and look for big time play from Jordan Curtis, Tyrus Jackson and Maurice Victor.
  

Newsome

• Coming off a 19-6 season going 4-1 in districts, the Wolves will look to replace the dynamic play of PG Nick Stuck.  For the most part, we need to see 2018 G Isaiah Islam continue to produce offensively.  Coach Barry Jacobs who really knows how to coach and prepare schemes, should be in the running for this district.

Alonso

• The Ravens young core took a hit losing 2019 Christian De Leon and graduating PF Robert Gadson III.  So 2018 SF Kamalii Findlay and hopefully the young guards like 2019 DJ Gooden will pick up the slack.
