2nd Annual Derrick Brooks Shootout Day 2
Alonso vs. Booket T. Washington (Pensacola)
BT Washington was active on defense by pressuring the ball and making it hard for the Alonso guards to set in their offense. Soph.PF David Reynolds led Washington with 13 points and also was the games MVP. Reynolds was active on both ends and cause problems for the interior defense of the Alonso Ravens. Coach Price of Alonso pushed his team in the 2nd quarter to outscore the Washington 14-9 with the bulk of the points coming from Terance Brown who finished with 16 pts for the game.
In the second half, Washington’s combo guard Garry Lawrence made some impact plays to separate from the Ravens. Lawrence finished with 9 pts. Washington held Alonso’s 6’1” SG Terance Brown to 3 pts in the 2nd half. BT Washington got some good play from Fr. PG Michael Randolph who is a player to watch. Washington ended up winning the game 42-36. 6’6” Soph C Robert Gadson III of Alonso had a solid game with 11 pts and 5 rebs.
Chamberlain vs Monsignor Pace(Miami)
Chamberlain set the tone with its hustle play and giving tons of effort on both ends. Being crippled not having Sr SF Rashawn Fredericks and Jr. SG Ronald Blunt Chamberlain did as much as the could. Chamberlain’s Sr G Danny Keeler made an impact in the first half, staying aggressive on offense and Sr. PG Elijah Harden gave needed sparks throughout the game. However, Sr. SG and North Florida commit CJ Fisher was the most aggressive on the court and finished the Chiefs in the 2nd half. Fisher just came off a 35 performance against Brooks De-Bartolo on Friday in a loss. Monsignor Pace beat Chamberlain 88-76 and CJ Fisher was named Player of the Game with 29pts!
