Hoops Profile: Malik Channer
Class of 2014 Malik Channer, represents Strawberry Crest HS. Channer is 6″1′ weighs about 205. He reminds me of a Jameer Nelson of Orlando Magic, real solid and able to use his body to create space. By demonstrating the ability to hit jump shots in transition, it convinced me that he was able to play at the college level. A crafty ball handler which was unexpected. Channer when asked about working on his game he mentioned “I always have a thirst to learn more about it. I’m big on getting in the weight room and I’m almost always in the gym with my coach or dad.”
“I love math, I could literally sit and do math problems all day. My academics are good but could be better. I try to take some AP classes to challenge myself.” Malik his a humble Student-Athlete with a stern family support system which is anchored from his father(Steve Channer). Malik Channer’s older brother Brandon Channer plays for Rider University and also a Strawberry Crest HS program product.
Channer has no D1 offers but interest from multiple D2 and D3 schools
