Backboard Breakdown Showcase

Bay Area Hoops/Big County Preps would like to thank the Student-Athletes, Parents, Coaches, and all Media outlets that were in attendance at today’s Backboard Breakdown Showcase.  The showcase was held at The University of Tampa Martinez Center Gymnasium.  Young fresh talent used this showcase to show their skills, athleticism and competitiveness.   It was a high energy showcase consisting of drills for  ball handling, shooting, lateral movement, balance, 1 on 1 ability, passing , defense and basketball IQ.

Footage of this event will be sent to every D1, D2, D3, JuCo and NAIA in our database.

Top 8 Performers:

Lawrence Watts

Lawrence Watts

Malik Channer 2014 Strawberry Crest PG 6-0 200

May have been the best player in the gym.  Solid build and very elusive with the ball.  He showed great control in his drills, looked very composed in 5 on 5 play and a very very humble young man.  He should be signed to a school real soon!

Brian Powers 2015 J.W. Mitchell High school PG 6-2 172

This is a scrappy player…wow. Good mid-range shooter.  Good IQ and runs the floor well.

Anthony Gamble 2014 Newsome SG 6’3” 175

Gamble should have a phenomenal season this year at Newsome HS.  He has good size for a SG and knows how to finish in the lane.  Good up-side!

Lawrence Watt 2015 Mitchell High School SG 6-4 185

He may have dunked every ball he touched!  High flyer and runs the floor well.

Dontez Hardy 2015 Middleton SG 6’0” 179

Under-sized to SG but makes up for in his athletic ability. He really can finish guys!

Kajuan Jones 2015 Robinson PG 5’5” 128

Fast, Fast, Fast!!!  Ball handling was superb.  Shows a lot of heart on the court against any competition!

Sam Harris 2014 Tampa Catholic PG 5’10” 167

This young man comes back to Breakdown to show he improved on his game.  Since our last viewing, his quickness, defensive eye and hand coordination is off the chart.  Good size, more controlled and gets to the basket.
