Florida Southern College Team Camp Eye Catchers

Lakeland, FL – On a busy basketball weekend, I had a couple of hours to catch some teams at the Florida Southern College Team Camp this past Saturday.  Take a look at a few guys.

One of the most consistent PG’s I watched was 2020 Sebastian Astor of Fleming Island.  He’s a pass first guard who can create on either side plus plays with maturity and makes others better.  Fleming was a huge part of the Golden Eagles Class 8A state run this past season leading to the semifinals.  Astor’s abilities and talents should not be unnoticed by College Coaches soon.  Tampa Catholic is anticipated to be the best team in Hillsborough County next season, we wanted to see how 2020 6’8″ forward Johni Broome and 2020 G Kobe Knox were looking. Broome is picking up more confidence with his post presence and Knox is showing more finishing attributes at the rim.  We’re also looking forward to see the development of the young talent in 2022 G Derrick Mitchell. Other players to pay attention to are: 2020 Alijah Harrison and 2020 Marcellus Crutchfield.  Coach Dziagwa and staff will have the Crusaders in tuned soon.

Twin guards DeMari & Ja’Cari Henderson of Seminole (Sanford) are without a doubt athletic, aggressive and worth the watch.  Along with the Henderson twins, look for PG Ladarron Cleveland to keep the pace for this highly energetic team and check for young talented big Bryce Harrison.  Seminole should win a ton of games next season.

Monsignor Pace has a skilled guard in 2020 Marcus Frazier, who plays at a high level for his team.  Frazier has the ball on a string, can attack defenders and also be effective on the perimeter.  He might be flying under the radar right now and we think his coming out party will be really soon.

Bishop Snyder’s Austin Lewis showed some potential for the Cardinals.  Lewis is smooth, has an high IQ and was the most consistent.
